The story we tell about ourselves defines the things we dare to try
The story we tell about ourselves defines the things we dare to try. It also limits the roads we see in front of us.
What we often forget is that we can change the story. Not the objective facts, but our interpretation of those facts: how we arrived at our current situation, what explains our success and failureā¦. We can change how we react to the fear of trying things that are outside the boundaries set by the story we've crafted. Most importantly, we can change the subjective limitations that limit the possibilities that lie in the future.
This is not about positive or magical thinking, which often implies that you can achieve anything just because you think so. This is about realizing that we may be limiting our potential because of the story we've crafted to justify our laziness and lack of courage to ourselves.
Stop complaining about your past and dare to look into the possibilities ahead.
