Accountability and Progress
Some days ago I was explaining to someone about a peer advisory group I'm part of. The part of advice and support in a non-competitive, confidential environment all resonated with him. However, the part about accountability did not. More than that, he was truly scared of the idea of making a commitment in front of a group of peers.
It is said that unhappiness is always the result of an outcome not meeting our expectations. However, that doesn't mean that the lower the expectations the happier we become. If we want to do meaningful work, at some point, we'll probably need help from others in our journey. We'll need someone to hold us accountable.
